Thiruvananthapuram: Kovalam is set to host a colourful celebration of Indian culture and festive traditions with “Navranga – Dandiya Night” at the Kerala Arts & Crafts Village in Vellar, Kovalam, on October 17, 2026.

Organised by Live by ONC Community in association with Kerala Tourism, the event is being promoted as a major outdoor Dandiya and Garba celebration in Thiruvananthapuram. The programme will combine traditional dance, music, food and cultural entertainment in a festive setting at the arts and crafts village.

The celebrations are scheduled to begin in the evening and will feature Dandiya and Garba performances, live music, band entertainment, traditional games and other activities. Visitors can also enjoy mehendi, face art and festive photo opportunities, while North Indian food stalls will offer a variety of regional specialities.

Cultural celebration meets tourism

Choosing the Kerala Arts & Crafts Village at Vellar, near Kovalam, adds a tourism dimension to the event. The 8.5-acre cultural destination is home to more than 100 artisans and numerous craft studios, offering visitors an opportunity to experience traditional arts and handicrafts.

Visitors attending Navranga can combine the Navratri celebrations with an exploration of Kerala's traditional crafts and cultural spaces.

The event is also expected to attract young people, families and groups from different parts of Thiruvananthapuram. Organisers have made arrangements for transportation from areas including Kazhakkoottam and Thampanoor, aimed at making it easier for groups and women to travel to the venue.

The programme comes at a time when Kerala's tourism destinations are increasingly being used as venues for cultural, entertainment and experiential events, helping visitors experience destinations beyond conventional sightseeing.
